Software radio(SR) has gained such a lot interest over the past few years that it has been recognized to be the development orientation of communication and radio technology in the future. It breaks through the limitation of traditional radio in simple function and bad expansibility, focuses on liberating the communication system from the hardware's bondage and advances the new design idea which is based on the simplest open and common platform and uses updateable and reconfigurable applications to realize all kinds of radio function. Though the research working internal gets a great many fruit, it is still in a primary phase. It is necessary and meaning to research the technology of SR.Due to the hardware characteristic's limitation, such as the poor speed of A/D, D/A conversion and DSP process, the most part of SR system adopt middle course. That is to say, by using the special digital converter or running relevant arithmetic, it converts the radio signal to intermediate frequency signal and completes the base-band signal process that isn't the veriest SR and is named "software defined radio (SDR)". This paper introduces the rapid system prototype into the design of software radio system, which has great advantage because rapid system prototype technology can be used to describe the future application. In other words, while the process ability of current production cannot meet the request of SR, we can use the tools of specification to specify the system block and working characteristic, then simulate. This way benefits the choosing of SR's research direction. This paper completes the design of SR system with the radio frequency band-pass sampling architecture and uses rapid system prototype method to realizes SR system in TFs TMS320C6711DSK board. This method of SR research is the paper's innovation.This paper divides into six chapters:The first chapter - base on the analyses of the origin, conception and development status of SR, this chapter discusses the key technology and realize difficulties of SR and advances the intention and meaning of the paper.The second chaptei-the SR system with radio frequency band-pass samplingarchitecture is a design scheme close to software wireless radio(SWR), this chapter introduces three system architecture of SR system and analyses the theory of radio frequency band-pass sampling.The third chapter-this chapter analyses and designs the DSP hardware platform with radio frequency band-pass sampling architecture.The fourth chapter - this chapter discusses the arithmetic of modulate, demodulation and the identifying of signal modulate mode, then presents those realize which is using a common method of SR's function realize in DSP platform.The fifth chapter-this chapter analyses the feasibility and necessarily of using rapid prototype technology to realize the research and design of SR system, completes the MATLAB simulation and realize it on TI's TMS320C6711DSK board. This is a new research method of SR, which advances in this paper for the first time.The sixth chapter-this chapter sums up the paper's work and gives the prospect of future work.
