Describing the migration to Embedded System of Linux in a project, this thesis discusses the problems of real-time capability of Linux.The thesis introduces the Embedded System, its development situations and significance of Embedded System Development, brings forward a project plan. It introduces the technology background of migration of Embedded Linux, emphasizes the framework of migrating Linux to Embedded System, brings out a series of worthwhile problems in migration or design of Embedded System, and describes how to migrate Linux to Intel DBPXA250 developing board. Expounding the concepts of Real-Time, Real-Time System and RTOS, the thesis brings forward the ideal real-time scheduling module, and points out the problem of real-time capability of Linux, and compares RT-Linux, RED-Linux and KURT. It points out where the problem of real-time scheduling of Linux kernel is via analyzing the source code. The thesis analyzes the methods to modify Linux kernel, brings out some assume and experiment framework of modification to make Linux kernel can be preempted.It concludes that the problem of real time capability of Linux is a problem of design, but not of implementation. Although the problem has not been solved to make Linux kernel preempted, the works of migration, the research and the exploration are worthwhile for correlative works.
