The electronic commerce (E-Commerce) is a kind of business activity form on Internet by using Internet technique. In recent years, it has quickly developed along with the development of Internet technique. How to make the efficient and credible electronic commerce project by making use of the up-to-date Internet programming technique has become the hot point issue within computer field. XML is becoming more and more important in the applications of E-COMMERCE because of its expansibility and the separation between its contents and forms. With the establishment of the standard of XML 1. 0 and the support of the browser to XML, the applications based on XML are booming. So, it is clear that E-COMMERCE is on the way. Compared with traditional E-COMMERCE, E-Commerce based on XML has outstanding advantages in saving data and intercommunicating interface and validation.Firstly, this dissertation discusses the shortage of traditional B/S system, and at the same time, points out the advantage of XML technique. Secondly, this thesis introduces such techniques as XML, ASP.NET and ADO.NET. Finally, the thesis designs a Web computer book store system by use of the combination of XML and ASP. NET techniques, completes system analysis, and implements parts of main functions.The thesis utilizes relational database system (RDBS) as the background database, XML as the middle layer to realize the catalog, customer shopping-cart and payment of a Web book store. The thesis emphasizes particularly on the application of XML, and discusses the advantage of the combination of data and Web control by using the XML data-island. This dissertation thinks that it can make the search easy and flexible by using the security of RDBS and agility of XML. In addition, Schema technique was used to validate the registered data, which canavoid the unnecessary data transmission in Internet.The analysis and design processed in the thesis have certain extent catholicness, and can be used in other Web application development.
