This paper will report the new achievements in our research on frequency tuning means of mix-structure CO axial flow laser, especially on composite cavities of CO laser suit for photochemistry.This paper sum up the development of CO laser that has both high quanta conversion emciency and electricity-light efficiency, and describes its important applications and development foreground for industrial processing, selected interaction between light and material, spectrum, and photochemistry.This paper has discussed the principle of operation of CO laser, and its pumped and excited mechanism. By the way, this paper has also analysed systematically the characteristics of its high output power, high conversion efficiency and board band.This paper has analysed particularly every kinds of loss in our CO laser, and has introduced our means for its reconstruction, such as adding two roads for gas input and output, cutting down unexcited section in its discharge tube and so on in order to improve its gain, which is proved effective by our experiment.Then we have done frequency-tuning experiment with the second rank diffraction of the glaring grating, and observed three lines nearby 5.33 u m, which is used in uranium isotope separation by laser activation. This paper has analysed our experiment and compare the character of 2th rank diffraction of the grating with that of first rank diffraction of the grating.It is important method to carry out photochemistry reaction in laser resonator, for example, isotope separation by laser action, in order to make it apply in our life, This paper introduce two means, both of which are carrying out photochemistry reactionin auxiliary cavity of a composite resonators. This paper has systematically researched these two kinds of frequency tunable composite resonators. Through numerical simulating, some rules are given on power in two subcavities that change with increasing loss, grating structure, wavelength and grating constant. Then we can analyse the feasibility of our means. Especially, the specialties of two kinds of glaring grating are compared, and each use of two kind of composite resonators is illuminated.
