Quality is the key to the survival of products. In the process of glass production, the inspection of uniformity becomes one of the main methods in inspecting and ensuring the quality of glass products. Therefore, it takes an important role in improving the quality and the economic benefit. In this paper, for the purpose of the inspection of glass's uniformity, we propose the plan of the inspection and processing system based on the measurement technology with interference of polarized light. This system plan is explained in detail from both the view of hardware and software. Firstly, the theory and the architecture of hardware system are described, and the flow of the software is introduced. Secondly, the steps of the glass's image processing are discussed in detail. Based on the experiments and the characteristics of interference fringe, we pre-process the images with median filter and image segmentation with dynamic threshold. After marking and thinning the resulted fringes, we analyze linearly the uniformity of product's samples with the characteristics of the framework.The software system process the images got from Digital CCD camera, give the result and print the report automatically. The result showed the system could inspect the uniformity quickly, and precisely and had the favorable interface.
