Automatic Modulation Recognition of Communication Signals (AMR) is a rapidly evolving signal analysis area. In recent years, much interest has focused around the research and development of modulation recognition algorithms and many recognizers have been developed, but there are still many problems in AMR need to be solved. A globe procedure of the AMR system has been introduced in this paper, based on the introduction, two new algorithms for carrier frequency estimation and one new algorithm for high-level digital modulation signal are proposed.The background of the Software Radio and the main structure of AMR are introduced at first. Then a review of several algorithms for carrier frequency estimation is presented. A further two algorithms for carrier frequency estimation developed by the authors are introduced. Furthermore, a global procedure for modulation recognition and several modulation recognizers for communication signal are presented. But these modulation recognizers can't recognize the high-level digital modulation signals, a new recognizer is proposed to solve this question in this paper, the high-level digital modulation signals can be recognized by the new recognizer.The main job in this paper can be divided into three parts:1. A time-frequency domain method for carrier frequency estimation2. An improved AR model spectral estimation for carrier frequency.3. An improved algorithm for automatic modulation recognition of high-level modulation signals.
