Today, with the rapid development of computer network technology, computer has turned its steps to open, network platform-based, and cooperative working. Agent-based theory and technology, especially Multiagent, has brought forth an entirely new paradigm for designing and implementing distributed and open environment software systems.This thesis mainly focuses on architecture and cooperation of multiagent distributed systems. Based on a summary of several existing architectures, we put forward the part crunode degeneration composite architecture. We analyze Agent cooperation methods now commonly in use, and, on the basis of ecology and experiences, we propose a competitive price auction contract network protocol. While using the same network traffic volume as the simple auction, our strategy of second overbid competitive price auction can achieve the same effect as the traditional auction. Further, we improve traditional contract network protocol, introduce constraints into message transmit, and use fell back punishment and credit when an agent cannot complete the intended task, consequently the traffic volume and the complexity of systems are considerably reduced. Lastly, we implement an FIPA-based multiagent e-commerce prototype.Cooperation is the core of and key to implementing multiagent systems. Choosing reasonable architecture, choreographing agents' actions and applying appropriate cooperation protocols are essential to cooperation design. It is right from these viewpoints that this thesis starts our research on multiagent system architecture and cooperation.
