This paper reports on the characterization and analysis of drilling with a novel high power acousto-optical Q-switch pulse laser. The laser is a flash-lamp pumped pulse Nd:YAG laser which can be used in the free running mode, additionally we make a primary drilling experiment on the nickel-based heat resisting alloy. The relationship about one Q-switch, two Q-switches in acousto-field perpendicular or parallel is analyzed. According to the theory of acousto-optic(AO) interaction, the formulas of diffraction loss of two AO Q-switches, which acousto-field are perpendicular or parallel one another, The power divider for ensuring two AO Q-switch synchronization and effective power driving is designed. The calculation results are satisfied with Nd:YAG laser experimental results. It is show that two AO Q-switches, which acousto-field are perpendicular each other, switch-loss is nearly one times larger than one AO Q-switch, one of third larger than the two AO Q-switches which acousto-field are parallel. We divided the trigger signal to the two branch ,one was used to ignite the lamp pump, and the other through the DG535 delay generator and DS345 waveform generator to modulate the high frequency signal and to drive the acousto-optic deviceWe delay the signal about the 150μ s to synchronize the free running laser pulse, and acquired the high quality high summit power and narrow pulse width pulse sequence, which pulse width is 200μs, and the summit power is about 300 KWWith the laser, drill a 1.5mm thick nickel based heat resisting alloy. When used the free running pulse laser , the recast' thick on the hole's wall is 10μ s, when used the free running laser the thick is 35μ. It is effective to relieve the micro crack in the process of laser drilling...
