Study On Wireless Location Technologies In WCDMA

Wireless location is receiving increasing attention in the field of wireless communication. This is due to the order issued by the U.S Federal Communication Commission that mandates all wireless service providers to locate an emergency 911 caller within a high accuracy. In this paper I introduce some main location technologies and especially summarize and compare all the algorithms for CDMA systems. After that I propose Advanced Forward Link Technology and TOA based ML location receivers with QPSK for one antenna and STTD for two antennae in WCDMA systems. On the basis of that I propose a combined architecture for WCDMA location searcher and STBC decoder.
