Research On The Application Of Firewall Techniques Based On The Linux Operation System

Following the rapid development of Internet,the applications of government on-line technology,electronic business,electronic money,on-line bank,and so on,sharing or protecting information contradicts each other more and more. In a word,network security becomes most important increasingly. Because of the particularity,we must do it ourselves. An Internet firewall is often used to enforce security policies between an organization's network and the Internet.Nowadays,the second design based on the free source code is one of the computer applications. Based on foreign experience and domestic situation,the paper researches the firewall system that own intellectual property right and high performance-price ratio. This paper includes two parts:the first theory part introduces some basic concepts,functions of Internet firewall,and key technologies in this field. Furthermore,the paper presents a discussion of Packet Filtering and proxy firewall and their characteristics.The second part gives a design method of a typical application-campus network firewall. This part first analyses the network code of Linux Operation System,and builds a firewall system based on the packet filtering of Linux with proxy and authentication. The purpose is not only protect the network security but also try to decrease expenses. Moreover,some useful suggestions are given for the improvement of the new firewall software in the future.
