This dissertation focused on the research of real time image grabbing and fruit grading control system, which including the design of software and hardware of the control system, and the realization of automatic control functions.A direct digital control (DDC) system was adopted, which can grab the dynamic image of fruits in real time, and send the results of image processing to the parallel port of computer, then control several step motors' status at the same time. The control hardware for real time dynamic image grabbing and grading was designed, and the facility used for synchronous tracking of fruits was also set up. The PID controller tactics was used to design the automatic control loops, and performs the adjustment of parameters.The software for the control of real time image grabbing and the communication from PC to step motor controller was developed. The software for image grabbing programmed on the basis of MILL-LITE, which can successfully control the real time image grab and display, and has the advantages of modularization and structurization. Correspondingly, the software for the communication from PC to step motor controller, which was based on Visual C++, was proved to be effective and friendly to operators.At the end of this dissertation, the control system developed was tested. It was proved that this system achieved the requirement on rate and accuracy of dynamic image grabbing and grading, and it could be used in real time fruits inspecting and grading.
