The binocular stereo ranging method based on the principle of triangle measuring is an important method which can do three-dimension (3-D) measurement and acquire the information of 3-D surface profile. With the development of the technology of the computer stereovision, the binocular stereo sensor has applied in field of industry detection, object identification, robot automatic guidance, navigation etc. With the appearance of new opto-electronic scanning technique, automatic technique, highspeed data processing technique and more effective algorithm, the binocular stereo ranging method has new headway and applicationThe contents are arranged as following. In chapter one, the state of the art and future the development of stereo vision are introduced; The principles of the binocular stereo in 3-D measurement are illustrated in chapter two; the experiment, data processing and the analysis of ranging accuracy with the effect of several factors are presented in chapter 3,4. Finally, the existing problems and future development in stereo vision are discussed.
