In recent years, the subdivision of TV channel has become a hot topic in the circle of television, and it is also a quite important innovation being carried by the television practitioners enthusiastically. What's more, The state administration of radio film and television has a great expectation on the innovations. However, both theorists and the practitioners have comparatively insufficient notions and the basic views are of great divergences. We have to consider the following: the necessity and the basic characteristics of the subdivision in China; how to learn from the experiences of the developed countries in America and European countries , so as to bring about subdivided channels according to the practice in China; What's more, the major problems we are confronted with.In this thesis, I has observed the status quo of the subdivision of TV Channel in China. On the basis of the summarization of some former discoveries, I proposed my original views, and has made efforts to make a comprehensive and systemic expatiation. The thesis basically consists of two parts: theories and practices. In the part of theories, I has analyzed profoundly the ultimate motivation of subdivisions of TV channel with the theories of sociology and marketing and defined the basic characteristics of the subdivisions. In the part of practices, I illumed the major factors that have restricted the subdivision and as well as the countermeasures.I argues that actually, the subdivided televiewers are the public, therefore we should keep the principle of serving for the public during the subdivision. To enrich the subdivided channels, it is very essence to enhance the function of market in the production of TV programs, as well as to publicize the channels at the public as well as within the TV station.and to build up their own unique style. Another feature of this thesis is that it has quoted abundant data of survey of televiewers. The sources of the data includes a survey of televiewers in Nanjing, which I has participated myself, and the reports ofthe surveys published in newspaper and magazines.
