The technology of color calibration has a direct effect on the capacity of color reproduction in the color system. The feasibility of using 3D-LUT technology in color calibration is mentioned and the insufficiency of the present technology is discussed in this paper. The ideal grades of 3D-LUT is given to obtain the best calibration effect through analyzing the effect of them on the speed and precision of the three dimensional interpolation. On the basis of analyzing the method of producing traditional printer sample sets, an improved method to produce printer sample sets is presented , which enlarges the printer gamut availably and improve the color reproduction ability of the printer. In the process of constructing the 3D-LUT ,the inverse uniformity technology and extrapolation technology are used to make the three dimensional interpolation process more simple and effective. Finally, the 3D-LUT technology is applied to fulfill the process of the color calibration. The technology above can be used in the research and development of color management software and high performance color hard-copy devices.
