Based on lots of literature, fundamental principles of predictive control and the newly developments of Generalized Predictive Control (GPC) are introduced. In Chapter II, the basic algorithm of GPC is suggested and the structure of internal model control is deduced. The closed-loop stability is analyzed additionally. The algorithm of GPC with modification of error model is then developed as a normal case. In the last section of this chapter, algorithm of GPC based on state-space equation is described.All the algorithms of Chapter II have to solve Diophantine equation and the inversion of big matrix online. As a result, real time control is infeasible. In order to solve this problem, three kinds of resolutions are put forward in Chapter III. They all decrease the computation.In Chapter IV, properties of GPC are studied. By using the coefficients of mapping relationship between plant and closed-loop characteristic polynomial, the conditions on zero coefficients of characteristic polynomial are analyzed. In addition, some simple conditions described by step response coefficient for tuning parameters that guarantee the stability of the closed-loop system are also obtained. Finally, the deadbeat properties of closed-loop system of GPC are derived.If we introduce pole placement into GPC, the stability of closed-loop system can be guaranteed. In chapter V, Generalized Pole-placement (GPP) self-tuning controller is proposed. Based on basic algorithm and by applying the weighted input replace of single step predictive input, with online choice of weighting item to place zero and pole, the calculation for inverse matrix is avoided with good rapidness.In recent years, the research results show that by adopting parallel proceeding structure on a large scale, neural network has high convergence coefficients irrelevant to the number of nodes. For this reason, we introduce neural network into GPC's algorithm. There are three newly resolutions suggested in chapter VI.The application of GPC to the tension control of cold trandom machine is studies in chapter VII. The model of tension control is analyzed. Different design solutions of GPC mentioned above are used to realize expectation.
