Parametric CAD is one of trends of computer aided design . In this thesis a method, called as parametric method based on constraints' database , is presented according to principles of graph theory, by which a parametric CAD system was developed referring to a parametric CAD model based on AutoCAD . This system employed ActiveX Automation technology of Microsoft Corporation. The object-orient software development methodology was used through the total development course of this system. It can achieve dimension-driven all entities in part of CAD drawing.The author come up with a new plan that is able to realize information interchanging between AutoCAD and product data management system, for short as PDMS, which will contribute to data sharing between application systems of an enterprise greatly.In addition, another design system of spiral-bevel-gear milling cutter was developed, which can deal with all parameters' calculating and drawing of milling cutter larger than 3.5 inches. And this system is an applied instance of the parametric design system.
