Implementation Of Storage System Based On Storage Area Network

The Wide use of network brings more and more demand for network storage, however recently a new type network structure-storage Area Network (SAN) gives a resolved plan for it. Many big oversea corporations consider SAN as evaluative way of network in the future, and unfold many researches and developing work. However, domestic research has not been deployed in this field, saying nothing of products. So comprehensive researches on SAN have been done and some achievements have been gotten. This paper summarizes these researches, which includes: The conception, characteristic and nowly application of SAN is introduced in detail, moreover storage method, physical structure and logical structure is analyzed. SAN is not a product but a method to configure network. It establishes connection between Server and disk array by special Hub, exchanger and gateway. Storage system based on SAN realize the management for SAN and involved many technologies, such as network protocol, parallel programming, cluster technology and network file system, etc. A new network protocol, RACP/RTCP, was put forward based on TCPIIP.RACPJRTCP define the format of protocol data unit, network protocol service and the movement network protocol entity, which give a criterion to the host of network communication. A new network system桼efam was designed based on RACPIRTCP protocol and virtues of all kinds of current SAN systems. It connects mainframe computer, Unix workstation, Windows workstation and disk array by SAN, and implement resource sharing of them.
