CMOS image chip has a lot of advantages. It is of less power loss and less expense. And the signal-collecting unit can be integrated with the signal- processing unit into one chip. So it will be a real SOC. With all these advantages, CMOS image chip is one of the foci in the IC field. The main problem about CMOS image chip is the noise from the circuits. First this paper discusses the fundamental principle of CMOS image chip and the pixel array. The main problems and correlative techniques are summed up. Second, a CMOS image chip with passive pixel is designed and simulated. Finally, a new denoising algorithm is put forward on the basis of the wavelet threshold-denoising algorithm presented by Donoho.
