Since the reform and opening up, with abundant labor resources, huge potential market and various preferential policies, China sporting goods industry from small to large, from imitation to innovation, from a planned to a market, from a closed self-sufficiency to the international market, and achieved remarkable achievement has aroused the universal concern of the industry. To base on the age of consumer, sporting goods can be divided into the following categories:children's sporting goods market, youth sports market and the old sporting goods market. In the late 90 century, the development of China's middle-aged sports research has emerging, It is currently in the exploratory phase, occasional elements and scholars conducted their research, but is not systematic. Therefore, the urgent need for the area in-depth, systematic study and put forward reasonable suggestions and practical product and market development program.The new century, with the rapid development of economy, as the only municipality in central and western regions of China, the economic center of the Changjiang River, Chongqing Municipality has entered in the "old type" area ranks. Chongqing Statistical Yearbook 2004, in the elderly group of sports population has reached 40% ,it is higher than the 5 percent aged sports population. The main city of Chongqing as the representative of the level of development, including the elderly group of sports demand a certain extent, reflect the older age groups of our city's overall appearance. Chongqing City in the large number of old people, rich and colorful life of sports, participating in sports with great enthusiasm,And has a high savings rate. For middle-aged sporting goods industry, is also a large potential market, its potential and the expected benefits are not be underestimated. In this paper, the main city of Chongqing to meet the needs of the elderly to study sports and market development and take the questionnaire survey, literature, field surveys, mathematical statistics, logic analysis, investigations of the actual city in Laonian Sports demand situation and market development. The results show that the current middle-aged and sporting goods market, products can not truly meet the needs of the elderly, mainly because of the six reasons, the type of lack of quality Volume is not high, the price is unreasonable, pertinence, old style, comfort difference. Sporting goods manufacturers and dealers on the market to develop more focused on the young consumer, the neglect of the elderly in this special group, resulting in the sporting goods market, the vacancy status of old age. I recommend the old sporting goods manufacturers and distributors to really learn the actual conditions of old age to the design and production of old sporting goods, and provide good service, we must focus on long-term, targeted at the older age groups to carry out marketing activities strengthen the corporate brand building, providing true for old sporting goods.
