The cultivation of social capital in the university, not only related to the university's own development, but also related to the growth of university students, as well as the stability of a harmonious society. Pay attention to the cultivation of social capital is the root of a university development built to Last, maintain the vitality. The thesis made a research on cultivating university social capital, including four parts:First, to explore the meaning of Social Capital, and analyze the constituent elements and characteristics of social capital in the university.Second, the writer made a detailed analysis on the necessity and the feasibility of nurturing social capital in our universities. Especially, China's universities need to cultivate social capital, from four aspects:the information age requirements; the requirements of scientific and technological innovation; the requirements from the popularization of higher education, and social responsibility of universities.Also, the writer analyzed the feasibility of nurturing social capital in our universities from two aspects:the characteristics of social institutions and cultural dimensions of universities in China.Third, the cultivation ways of social capital in our universities. To build the ideological basis of fostering the social capital in University; To enhance the capacity of universities to serve the community; To strengthen the Union of Universities'external networks; To coordinate and integrate the university's internal network of relations; Giving full play the role of university presidents.In the fifth chapter of this thesis, the safeguards of social capital fostered in the University were simply discussed on four aspects:the construction of formal system, informal system, a reasonable evaluation mechanism building and the building of an effective monitoring mechanism.
