In 2007, the new national curriculum, issued five years ago, was implemented in Jilin province. The new national curriculum of high school geography explicitly puts forward the new philosophies, such as the fulfillment of the students'different needs for geography study, the students'ability to learn, the focus on exploration of the geographical matters, the cultivation of the necessary geographical attainments for the future citizens of China. The methodology, applied by high school geography teachers for explaining and being carried out in the classroom teaching, will severely influence the smooth implementation of the new national curriculum. The high school geography teachers'classroom teaching behaviors, at the atmosphere of the new national curriculum, have been an important matter which draws the attention from many experts and scholars.In this paper, the classroom teaching behaviors, of four high school geography teachers, were systematically investigated through the research methods, such as classroom observation, interviews, and textual analysis, to explicitly reveal the adjustment and existing problems for the classroom teaching behaviors of high school geography teachers after the implementation of the new national curriculum with suggestions for high school geography teachers to further improve the adjustment of teaching behaviors.This paper is organized into four parts:Part I: The introduction, at the atmosphere of the new national curriculum, mainly puts forward the research problems, as well as the significance, aims and methods of the research on the classroom teaching behaviors of high school geography teachers.Part II: The literature summary, at the atmosphere of the new national curriculum, mainly outlines the conception, categories, and research commentaries of the classroom teaching behaviors of geography teachers.Part III: The supposed orientation of research was carried out, at the atmosphere of the new national curriculum, on geography teachers'classroom teaching behaviors which include focus on the three dimension teaching aims in teaching design, life relativity of teaching contents, emphasis on the changes of the learning styles of students in teaching methodology, and attention on the expansibility of teaching evaluation.Part IV: The current situation of the classroom teaching behaviors, at the atmosphere of the new national curriculum, was investigated on the materials collected through interviews and observation without intervention with the analysis which reveals the main changes, of adjustment for teachers'classroom behaviors, include focus on the diversification of teaching designs, openness and creation of the teaching process, changes of students' learning styles, and emphasis on the application of modern education technology. At the same time, the research also reveals some existing problems in classroom teaching behaviors of geography teachers, which consist of the formalization of classroom teaching, lack of careful organization, simplification of evaluation and unilateral teaching method.Part V: The strategies and constraint factors, for the classroom teaching behaviors of geography teachers at the atmosphere of the new national curriculum, were investigated on the analysis of the constraint factors consisting of quality of textbooks, philosophies of teachers, teaching evaluation systems, and the strategies including improving in classroom teaching behaviors of geography teachers, strengthening on theoretical study, reflecting on teaching behaviors, reforming the education evaluation systems, strengthening the construction of the curriculum resources.
