The publish of"The Guiding Outline of PE Teaching for National Regular Higher Education Institutions"provides not only a basis for guiding the reform of physical education curriculum of colleges but also a good reasons and opportunity for the development of yoga and other kinds of new sports in the college physical education. Nowadays, the physical health of college students is generally in a bad condition, so seeking various physical education ways and content to enhance physique, develop psychological quality and improve temperament of students is especially important. Yoga, as a fashion sport, can strengthen physical quality and has special effects. Its entrance into college sports elective courses has a positive role in developing student's physical condition and promoting mental quality. This study applies yoga exercise prescription and makes teaching experiments of students in Soochow University who have chosen the yoga course so as to study the positive effects of yoga in improving the physical and mental health of university students. Through the literature consultation, questionnaire survey method, experimental method and other research methods, test and investigate before and after the yoga practice on college students in order to analyze the influence of yoga on physical quality, physical function, body composition indicators and mental health. Finally, this investigation can offer theoretical basis and instruction for better development of yoga in college physical education class and overall strengthening physical and mental health of contemporary college students.Results of the study:(1)Yoga Exercise Prescription has an obvious role in fitness of female students. It can greatly improve the cardiopulmonary function of them and also can obviously promote the vital capacity, time of breath, resting heart rate and other physiological indicators; it can effectively make female college student's body composition better, so body mass index, various body circumference, and the ratio of waist and hip decreases significantly; it has significant differences in different physical index.(2)Yoga Exercise Prescription is conducive to body's overall development of female college students. It can upgrade endurance and strength quality at some degree. While the increasing rate of experimental group is lager than the control group. Training in the use of yoga exercise prescription is good to the comprehensive body development of female college students.(3)Yoga Exercise Prescription has a positive impact on the psychological health of female students the promoting result is evident. From the experiment we know, whether the experimental group or the control group, factors of students mental health have got good influence, mental health condition has been improved, but conditions of the experimental group is better than the control group. After the experiment, the control group and experimental group have a significant difference, especially the four factors of body, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety have been influenced obviously.(4)Yoga Exercise Prescription can alleviate effectively the phenomenon of dysmenorrhea so as to improve the life quality of female university students. Yoga exercise has a function of alleviating the dysmenorrhea and has certain additional efficacy. The effects in the experimental group are a little more obvious than in the control group. Thus, in this paper relevant recommendations are proposed.
