Concept of employment of university students refers to university students' fundamental views about employment purposes, meanings, methods, choices of working places and so on. The concept of employment is the boot of employment behaviors. After the reform and opening up, the concept of employment of university students can be divided into three stages, assigned concept in planned economy(before 1983), transition to market-oriented concept(from 1983 to 1993), market-oriented concept(after 1993).So far, market-oriented concept has been accepted by most students. However, the concept of employment of university students contains mistakes. Some parts of them come from inadequate of China's employment environment, others come from historical legacy. These mistakes are not viewed from the perspective of the students, but in terms of national and social needs, in order to emphasize the gap between the ideal of community expectations and university students'realistic choices in finding jobs.These mistakes include paying too much attention to material conditions and economic interests, fickleness and eager for quick success and instant benefit in learning, complex state of mind such as being dishonest in making resume, memorizing the original distribution system, seeking employment chances by unfair competition. They interfere to university students deeply.These factors bring about harms in different ways. Firstly, high concentration of college students leads to a very uneven distribution of personnel, personnel of high consumption and wastage. Secondly, fickleness and eager for quick success and instant benefit in learning is not conducive to the sustainable development of higher education. Thirdly, complex state of mind and related behaviors are not conducive to social justice and the formation of fair employment environment.The reasons why mistakes are contained in the concept of employment of university students are here. Firstly, the industrial structure of the objective in China determines that most students choose to work in cities and developed regions in east China but not in rural areas or in middle—west China. Blind heats of part-time jobs, resume fraud, snatching jobs through the back door are connected with the fear brought about by increasingly difficult employment situation. Secondly, the traditional elite consciousness contradicts popularization of higher education. On one hand, popularization of higher education inevitably brings down social status of college students. On the other hand, large rural-urban development gaps, regional disparities, traditional examination systems make elite consciousness hard to change. Thirdly, negative values such as hedonism and consumerism induce part students not willing to find jobs in areas with tough conditions. Fourthly, fickleness and instant benefit contained in direction of public opinion have a burden on students when they find jobs.We should give appropriate guidance to change the concept of employment. Firstly, creating more jobs to alleviate the employment situation through economy development, industrial structure adjustment and students entrepreneurship support program. Secondly, it is necessary to change inequalities in social development by building urban-rural area coordinative developing system, narrowing regional disparities, and narrowing disparities between different professions. Only when our society develops more equally do more students give up elite consciousness and choose areas with tough conditions. Thirdly, concern and help the impoverished students to obtain jobs, strengthen career planning education to students. Fourthly, create a good public opinion and a fair employment environment. Fifthly, strengthen ideological and political education about spirit of arduous struggle and social responsibility to university students.The concept of employment is the interaction of university students' subjective desire and objective reality, which determines that we need work hard to change illegitimacy in our society while we are calling university students to change their minds. Changing illegitimacy in our society is a long time, so guiding university students to form a legal concept of employment need a long time too.
