With the economic globalization, flourish of secondary vocational education and increasingly emphasis on professional values by the society and employers, education on professional values is becoming an inevitable tendency in the development of secondary vocational education. Against such a background, the researcher analyse the characteristics of secondary vocational school students and the causes as well by using literature method, questionnaire and interview, from social, ethical, psychological and educational aspects. The researcher also propose measures of educating and guidance in order to provide a theoretical basis and factual support for different levels of education administrative departments on formulating educational policies, for secondary vocational schools on professional values education to train the students in the formation of complete and proper professional values.In the theoretical overview section, starting with the concept of value and values, the researcher derive.the concept adopted in this paper from analysis and comparison between different expressions on professional values by domestic and foreign researchers. My concept is that professional values are a system of general, comparatively stable and motivative belief formed on the basis of people's profession, professional behavior and results of their work. The researcher also review the content, object, outcome and methodology of the current studies on professional values by domestic and foreign researchers. The researcher go even further and point out that professional values of secondary vocational school students mainly refer to their attitude tendency on occupation and employment; their professinal values are a system of general, comparatively stable and motivative concepts expressed in the process of their career choice and are expressions of the general values of secondary vocational school students manifested in the process of their occupational choice, which influence and determine their career orientation and work attitudes.In the research part, I apply a questionnaire on professional values to the study of the students from the four selected secondary vocational schools in Yantai City on five aspects-their professional values orientation, career assessment, career choices, career expectations and career awareness, and I analyse the results.In the results analysis, the researcher describe secondary vocational school students'professional orientation as self-worth first, ignoring the social values and their characteristics as utilitarian, diversification and conflicts, etc; the researcher reveal causes of their professional values, including four aspects-social changes, school education, family influence and personal characteristics.In the countermeasures section, the researcher make four suggestions:to use the socialistic core value systems as the theoretical guidance to help the students establish correct professional values; to scientifically build contents of education on professional values; to enhance education on professional values by different means, including flexibly using educational resources, etc; and strengthen the work on the students'career guidance.
