Beginning with a series of social problems which was caused by the rapid development of technology in the modern times, this paper deals with the necessity and feasibility of infiltrating STS education in the physical experimental teaching in junior middle schools on the basis of concept, origin and characteristic of STS education, foundation and practice basis of infiltrating STS education in the physical experimental teaching in junior middle schools, characteristic of middle school students'physical and mental development, characteristic and advantage of physical experimental teaching in junior middle schools, the necessity of cultivating students'science accomplishments in physical experimental teaching, etc.STS (Science, Technology and Society) is a systemic subject which studies the relationship between science, technology and society. It is a new field of inter-discipline research. Infiltrating STS education in the teaching of science courses is the developing direction of China's education reformation. According to the current status of physical experimental teaching in Shantou junior middle schools and students, some trials of physical experimental teaching infiltrated by STS education are carried out, in which classroom teaching plays a role of main channel and extracurricular and social activities act as a supplement. In the open experimental teaching that encourages students to do-it-yourself and take part in practice, students get to know more about the society, love technology more, pay closer attention to environment, which brings the idea of STS education into play. The exploration and preliminary practice of STS education shows that infiltrating STS education in the physical experimental teaching in junior middle schools helps students arouse interest in studies, improve science qualities, establish correct science values, and strengthen social responsibilities, which give students a good start for their future studies and work. Finally, according to the practical situation of Shantou, this thesis makes a preliminary sketch of carrying out STS education in Shantou. Of course, this thesis is just a preliminary experiment whose outcome may lead to a more extensive experiment by other colleagues.
