It is undeniable that vocabulary instruction plays a decisive role in foreign language teaching. Its efficiency directly affects the ultimate goal of foreign language teaching. Vocabulary, as a carrier of culture, closely related with each other. Therefore, we can say that vocabulary teaching is culture teaching.However, vocabulary teaching has been undervalued for a long time during the history of foreign language teaching and researching, which causes it suspend at a superficial level of pronunciation, spelling and literal meaning. The cultural integration of vocabulary teaching is even more ignored.With the development of cultural exchange communication and the research of vocabulary teaching, more and more experts and teachers have realized the significance of cultural integration of vocabulary teaching. However, specific vocabulary teaching methods and its systematical research are severely lacked, which greatly affects the formation of a systematical and practical principles and methods of cultural integration into vocabulary teaching and overall quality of foreign language teaching in English class of China.By means of questionnaire, it is found out that the majority of secondary school students have a meager knowledge of cultural related vocabulary. What's more, cultural integration of vocabulary teaching draws little attention from teachers, most of who bear insufficient knowledge about cultural related vocabulary. Based on the current situation, this thesis aims to propose specific principles and methods for cultural integration of vocabulary teaching, in order to improve the foreign language learners'ability of cross-culture communication as well as the whole quality of foreign language teaching in English class of Chinese Secondary School.
