With the rise of fans,The fan culture as a kind of popular culture has been an important research project of sociology and cultural study. Although a large number of fans in China, Research in this area has just begun, and theoretical study and empirical research are relatively weak. This article, through analysis of the phenomenon of contemporary idolatry with qualitative and quantitative research, thus the Chinese fan culture and modern idolatry play an active role in the study. First, this paper illustrates the concept of idol worship and idolatry. In early human, People often have to depend on a variety of things there is no life on, Such as wood, stone. People think they are gods and through prayer to pray. Idolatry is the worship of the further development of spiritual things. This religious form began in the late stage of primitive religion, in the early stages of a civilized society has been large-scale development, and has been popular among peoples of faith polytheism. Many ancient civilizations or human ancestors have the phenomenon of idol worship. And modern idolatry is the worship of man, Prior to the 20th century, idol worship mainly for the apotheosis of the dead idols of religious worship, After the 20th century, it is a living idol worship of the secular entertainment.In this paper, is based on culture and consumerism, social and psychological mechanisms, fans community sociology, and study of Chinese current research. Explored and analyzed the development of Chinese contemporary idol worship. We analyzed the phenomenon of idol worship in different periods since the founding of New China. The fan culture is showing some new characteristics. Firstly, the scope of fans'objects is enlarging, and fans defend their idols based on the recognition that who they are. Secondly, differences among fans are getting bigger, not only of age or rank. And the group theory is being used to analyze fans. Thirdly, the fan-culture is becoming more commercial, and fans are using more technology and so on. The fan culture has its functions, both positive and negative. Positively, it makes an environment for modern fan activities and keeps cultural diversity. It also pushes the culture forward and shapes personalities, and improves the integration of elite culture and mass culture. By idols'expressions and gestures, the fan culture alters fans'values, and develops the fan-charity, a new type of charity in China. Negatively, fans could be influenced by idols'bad behaviors, which may bring bad effects to teenagers'socialization. And the fan culture also brings idolized consumerism.In order to better understand the phenomenon of idol worship of today's graduate students, in this paper, the form of questionnaires in the post-graduate school to investigate concept of idol worship. Including the availability of worship idols judgments idol category, whether there is consumer spending, the impact of their idol and the idol worship of several aspects of attitudes. Through the data results, we found most graduate students have idol worship and girls than boys. Girls tend to the actress and boys prefer the political leaders. Most of these people who have idol worship have been consumer behavior for their idols, and they think their idols have a positive effect. The majority of graduate students support and understanding of the phenomenon of idol worship. There are a small number of graduate students against idol worship, they believe that more harm than good. At the same time, we conducted case interviews of the time of the worship of idols, causes, methods of worship and so on. We found that graduate students for idol worship with a more rational behavior. It is a rational choice behavior after the moral judgments.We should treat the fan culture in a right way. It is necessary to conduct and bind teenagers through social and legal system, and reduce undue fan activities. Family and school education has good effects to teenagers'socialization. The media and idols'agent corporations must shoulder their social duties. At the same time, it is very important to rely on idols and fans themselves.
