| Learning not just only directed at the present, it also needs to direct to the future. Formulating the goals of future is helpful to self-development and self-realization. It also can regulate and guide the study behavior. Middle school students are during the critical period time of development in life. To understand the current features of future goals in students is helpful to enhance and guide their academic development.Based on the overviews of former research and open-ended questionnaire, this study analyzed the structure of future goals and formed the future goals questionnaire of middle school students. Besides, it analyzed the developmental features of middle school students. At last, this study discussed the relationship between future goals and academic self.Through the research, this study gets the following conclusion:1. According to the theoretical concept and factor analysis, the future goal is a second-order factor model of seven factors. That is, the future internal goals and the future external goals. Among them, the future internal goals contain academic goals, career goals, family goals and social goals. The future external goals contain academic goals, career goals, social goals.2. The "Future Goal Questionnaire" has good reliability and validity. It can be used as an evaluation tool for measuring middle school students'future goals.3.The overall development level of middle school students is in middle level. According to the results, students tend to target on the future internal goals more than future external goals. The internal of future career goals is the highest level, the external future social is the lowest level.4. There are significant difference in gender, grades, urban and rural areas, school type and the way of family education:(1) There are significant differences among internal future academic goals, career goals, social goals, external future career goals, social goals. Besides, the score that boys have is much lower than girls on internal future academic goals, career goals and social goals.(2) The developmental level of future goals is increasing with the rise of grades. Among them, the junior high school students get the highest level of development, the sophomore of high school students get the lowest level.(3) There are significant differences among internal future academic goals, social goals, external future career goals, social goals in urban and rural area students. Among them, the score that urban students get is much lower than rural students.(4) Except the internal future family goals, there are significant differences in the score that ordinary school students get and key school students get on other dimensions. Specifically, the score that ordinary school students get is lower than key school students among the internal future academic goals, career goals, external future career goals, social goals(5) There are significant differences in the way of family education except the internal future academic goals.5.Future goals and academic self is highly relevant. Specifically, future internal goals are much more highly relevant with academic self than future external goals. Internal future academic goals are the best predictors to academic experience, academic ability and academic achievement. Last, external future career goals are the best predictors to academic behaviors. |
