Mathematics textbook is the basic materialized form of ideas of mathematics curriculum, and the most important mathematics curriculum carrier and teaching resource, which plays an irreplaceable role. The mathematics textbook reform is an important component of the mathematics curriculum reform in the present world, to a large extent, affects the success or failure of the mathematics curriculum reform. Therefore, to enhance the study of mathematics textbook, especially comparative study of math textbooks of China and other states, to learn the advanced experience of international mathematics textbook compiling, has the vital practical significance to mathematics curriculum reform and even the whole mathematics education's development in China.This study selects mathematics textbooks for the primary school of SHE(Shanghai Education)edition of China and HM(Houghton Mifflin Math ? 2007?Student Book,Level 1~5)edition of the United States as cases to conduct the comparative study and static study from a micro-view. To clear the similarities and differences between the two editions of mathematics textbooks for the primary school, and know their characteristics, this study reflects and puts forward some proposals on the basis of analyzing differences and characteristics to provide reference for the compilation of mathematics textbooks for the primary school in China.On the one hand, this study launches total analysis and comparison on the ideas and frameworks of two editions of textbooks, on the other hand, carries on the detailedly comparative analysis on the content and styles of presentation of two editions of textbooks. The comparison of the content mainly includes three aspects: the comparison of the distribution of knowledge, the content selection and the content arrangement. The comparison of the styles of presentation focuses on three aspects: the styles of content presentation, the layouts, the styles of discourse presentation.What the study finds are : two editions of textbooks all emphasize on being in line with their standards, mathematical foundations and mathematical abilities, mental arithmetic and estimation; problem solving is as a separate part in the two editions of textbooks; " Number and Algebra " is the main learning content of two editions of textbooks; be excellent in both pictures and literary compositions, color-rich; two editions of textbooks all pay attention to creating a mathematical problem situation to introduce learning content. HM's framework is complex and full of logic, SHE's framework is simpler; the content scope of HM is wider than SHE, the difficulty is also no less than SHE; by the overall arrangement, SHE and HM both try to strike a balance between the screw type and straight line style, but the content arrangement of SHE edition tends to be more straight line style, the content arrangement of HM edition tends to be more screw type.Based on these studies, making the following proposals for the compilation and revision of mathematics textbooks for the primary school in China are: optimizing the structure of the author; improving the design of the framework; strengthening the content of "Statistics and Probability"; giving attention to the interdisciplinary integration; improving the quality of the printing and binding to recycle.
