In the 21st century, the voices of reform and development in the field of language teaching in secondary schools are particularly loud, but the effects of the reform cannot be equal to the requirements of the new curriculum on education .while yearning for the reform of secondary language teaching practice and research, teachers must change their teaching concept and innovation. Taking the reform of teaching methods for example, Discussion method is the most challenging and it can inspire the students' thinking and enhance students' self-study. Students play a main role in the discussion, teachers can cultivate the spirit of innovation in teaching methods. It fully embodies the people-centered concept of modern education.Based on "Language Course Standard", discussion method shows respect for in individual differences of students and aim at creating a good self-learning environment which encourages students to be happy to participate in the discussion, dare to express their views and positively exchange opinions with each other. There are two wrong views of discussion used in current teaching Chinese classroom: one is releasing only and the most is laissez-faire. In this paper, the author uses the information gained from one-year' visiting classes in A Secondary School to trace the tradition of the "discussion method of teaching" and its disadvantages. Also the author elaborates the theoretical basis content and function of discussion. Analyzes its status and also evaluated the teaching cases of A secondary school. At the same time, their paper makes a follow-up survey through interviews and questionnaires to the students and teachers in that school, so as to understand the status of the impact on teachers and students. In such situation and impact, the paper discussed the teaching strategy of discussion method used in language teaching.Setting a discussion panel is a trend of self-teaching, while is advocated by "Chinese Language Curriculum Standards". It shows autonomy, cooperation and exploring learning styles, which are the essence of teaching and a reflection of the communication. The author confidently believes that through the careful discussion and a reasonable guide, discussion can make a dynamic language teaching and enable students to communicate to spark friction out of the wisdom of thinking.
