The global tide of professional development of teachers and our increasingly in-depth development of the new curriculum reform have put forward higher requirements to teachers. The teachers' professional accomplishment becomes key to the successful achievement of the curriculum reform. Focus on the study has been shifted from passive group professionalism to active individual development, and from concern for the external professional environment and social status to internal professional enhancement.Focused on the topic, this thesis is unfolded as follows:1. Self-development is the best choice for professional development of teachers with self-awareness being the key ,self-practice and reflection the effective way , self-constitution and transcendence the ultimate goal and self-learning the most effective way.2.The professional development of Chinese teachers in the secondary school refers to the continuously updated and enriched process of theoretical knowledge and practical ability both professionally and educationally. Reading , one of the most important approaches to a Chinese teacher's professional growth, best embodies a teacher's independent development.3.The habit of independent reading plays a special role in the growth of a Chinese teacher. The characteristic of this subject demands the Chinese teacher to be a good reader with excellent reading quality.4.The reading life of the premium Chinese teachers is a vivid interpretation of the road to independent development for teachers. In reading, they can not only explore the meaning of Chinese learning and teaching but also keep continuous self-reflection, adjustment and improvement. Only in this way can they finally achieve self-fulfillment and embark on the road of professional development.5.Chinese teachers should enhance self-awareness of professional development, promote the internal driving force of independent growth and strengthen learning, practice and reflection. Furthermore, the school should take its part to create a good environment for the teachers' professional development.
