Mathematical ability is indispensable. Students on grade six is about to enter the middle school to get further study. Grade six is such a period that can lay a strong foundation for the future. Previously, the aim of Primary Mathematics Syllabus in our nation is reqiring every student geting the ability of four arithmetic operation of integer, decimal, fraction and developing thinking ability and space concept, with what they can explore and solve simply pratical proplem. Evaluating students's mathematical ability is useful to the cultivation of student's mathematical ablity. This study adopts the self-compiled math test to evaluating students' mathematical ability. The math test is aim to evaluate the development trend of the mathematical ability to see which kind of ability need to be improved. The self-compiled math test has good reliability and validity, so that it can be used. After the analysis on the test scores of students by using multi-dimensional model and DINA model, we made these conclusions:1,The trend of development on mathematical ability is that operational ability is the most well developed, followed with spatial ability, thinking ability, analysis and solving ability.2,Every subfactor of student's mathematical ability significantly relates to final academic achievement.3,About mathematical ability, there is no difference between male students and femal students, but there are significant differences between town students and rural students.4,Students with defferent final scores have significant defferences in mathematical ability: Excellent and good students are better than normal and bad student in analysis and solving ability, thinking ability and operational ability; Poor students are the only group that are bad developed on spatial ability, there is no difference among excellent students, good students and normal students.5,Students in the same level of the final academic achievement are unevenly developed on mathematical ability.6,The results of DINA model showed that there are 14 species of master mode of mathematical ability. From that model, we could know the detail of the mathematical abilities that each student has mastered (shown in appendix 4). For example, one of the student's master modes is (1011), and according to this model, we can see that this student has't mastered the thinking ability.
