Research On The Purpose Of Physical Education In China

At present, China is in a transferring-society period. It is experiencing the transfer from a traditional, agricultural, conditional society to a modern, industrial, opening one. Meanwhile, the planning economy is changing into a market one. The view of value, as a form of social consciousness which is determined by the base of economy belongs to upper construction. So the changing of society and economy will lead to the transfer of the view of value. The value viewpoints of physical education as a part of normal social value view, which will experience the deep change in this period. The value viewpoints of physical education is people's attitudes and viewpoints to the physical education and is people's reflection to it. It is a standard of measuring PE. Basically and deeply, it determines the development of the physical education. The transfer trend shows that: the basic change is from thing to people; changing of the value viewpoints of physical education is from biology to humanism; the rationality change is from tool to value-points. Above all, it is the content of this passage.Since the reforming and opening, we have got remarkable achievement in the physical education, and the theory has won further development. However, the theory study of its purpose is less developed. We still have no common understanding on it, and our research has been classified into physical one and multi-purpose one.The physical one: they suppose that spreading of the increasing physic knowledge skill is the aim, and they put forward the theory "the truth of PE", thinking that only the "education of physic" is truly PE, that is ,the education of making the people strong, they don't take sports-entertainment as PE. As a result, they don't agree the view of multi-essence, multi-purpose and big physical education.The multi-purpose one: They hold that with the development of the society, and the improvement of life level, people's pursuit for it has further beyond the range of biological PE. They attack the physical one seriously and criticize their prejudice of the sense of biological PE, against the inevitable trend of its development. PE intension is ideal form and product of the mind. Its process is not so primitive as people think, we should consider it from people's interest and need so as to express different view pursuit between choice and accept or reject. At the same time, different nations and different historical period of the same nation, they have different PE purpose which is directly related to the different culture background. So the study of PE purpose has to relate to the problem of value. In fact, different viewpoints on a large extent determine the purpose which is the reflection of the value viewpoint of physical education.On the purpose of physical education study, the author apply Ultra-cycle to drive its model. This model provides organization and development of the new-century's PE purpose with support. The author consider that the new period PE should be the purpose of "strengthening physique, enhancing health, improving life-style and the quality of life, accelerating well development of social-civilization. In terms of individual, strengthening physique, enhancing health, improving life-style and the quality of life is the core of PE purpose. It is from objective demand of social development, which reaches feasible rules of the orientation, content and expected level of one's body and mind development; accelerating well development of social-civilization reflects social need, which the requirement that is put forward by social development. At new period, the research of the purpose of physical education shows that the ally of the orientation of value of human being as dominant factor and the one of society as dominant factor.
