| Communicative language leaching originated in the late 80s last century. With theteaching methods shifting from audio lingual method to communicative approach, theresearch focus in the field of Chinese teaching has been changing too. Communicativelanguage teaching has gained much popularity and success in the teaching of Chinesein primary and junior high schools. But senior high school has been lagging behind inapplying communicative language teaching in oral communication teaching, andmuch research, especially the research done by the classroom practitioners needs to bedone regarding how to apply the approach to the senior high schools and how tofacilitate students to adapt to the modern life. It is for this purpose that the author ofthe thesis focuses on implementing communicative language teaching in the form ofsubjectbasedteaching in senior high schools, complete with setting up objective,comprehensive and impartial evaluation system. The thesis is composed of thefollowing four parts:The first part is a brief introduction to the social background and the theoreticalbasis of the communicative language teaching, and the existing problems. The societyand the field of Chinese language theories have been put forth increasingly highdemand on the students'communicative competence, while communicative languageteaching in senior high schools is still at a low level. This study aims to bridge the gap,and to trace down the source of the problem. Only in this way can we make ourteaching more effective. The second part is an elaboration on the choice of teachingcontents and the designing of the classroom activities,which is key to the applicationof communication language teaching. It is held by the author that the choice ofteaching contents and designing of the classroom activities must aim at trainingstudents'mind and preparing students for their future career, and thatnoncommunicativeactivities should be abandoned in the classroom. The third part isan exploration into the contents arrangement in subjectbasedcommunicativelanguage teaching. The author starts with the definition of"subject", then centers onthe sequencing, the types of the subjects and the training techniques. It is put forwardthat the communicative language teaching should be carried out gradually and in proper order. The fourth part is about the evaluation of oral communicationcurriculum. The author intends to integrate the summative and formative assessmentinto the evaluation system. The evaluation is made on the basis of the other'sevaluation systems, while at the same time the teaching situation of the classes wherethe author works on is taken into accountThe significance of the study lie in the following two aspects: 1) Though seniorhigh school students communicative competence plays an important role in theirsustainable development, research into communicative language teaching in seniorhigh schools are rare. This study serves as a tentative research in this field. 2)Thestudy sets up a model for arranging the subjects of communicative language teachingin senior high school and constructs an evaluation system, which may provide someguidance for applying the communicative language teaching in senior high schools. |
