A Study Case Of Female Hui's Culture

Cultural studies of female is an emerging field in China, because the cognition and records of human history and social development are mainly completed by male, so male's voices and experiences become the main body of the field of knowledge. However, with the development of society, the raising of human awareness, the own-awakening of female, in the background of the development of the international women's movement, western feminist movement, and feminist theory, as China implements its reform and opening up ,domestic academia also begins to focus on"gender"and"female culture". For Ethnology, the studies of female Hui or other ethnic groups' female is an integral part, because about half the population of each ethnic group is female and female culture is also a major part of each ethnic group's culture.Linxia Bafang area ,is known as"Mecca of China", is a typical Hui community, it has a large population of Hui, and there are all Islam denominations, it has rich religious culture. Therefore, taking female Hui of Linxia Bafang as a case study is a typical and representative choice.Form a angle view of Ethnology, combined with historical documentation, this paper employs main theories and approaches of Ethnology to conduct a deep description and analysis for the development of the culture, the construction of the culture, and the all aspects of real life culture of female Hui in Linxia Bafang. This paper also presents a concept ,that is"triple-culture", the author thinks that the Islamic culture and traditional Chinese culture are the two main aspects of the culture of female Hui in Linxia Bafang, meanwhile, the geographical culture imprint its characteristics onto female Hui in Linxia Bafang. Both in history and in reality, the culture of female Hui in Linxia Bafang is constructed by"triple-culture". In addition, female Hui of Linxia Bafang also faces the new challenge of modernization, globalization, and informationization in present-day society. It is difficult to make choice between traditional culture and modern culture,"own culture"and"other's culture", it is also difficult to improve their own social status, at the same tine, to play the"good wife and good mother". In the experience of confusion and puzzled, in order to fall into the new social environment, they try to adapt, reconstruct their culture.
