As the globalization of economy and information develops rapidly, international exchanges among different countries expand consistently and intercultural communications increase substantially. English as an international language has also been globalizing. According to this situation, ministry of education of China promulgated English Curriculum Standard for Senior High School (experimentation) in 2003, in which"cultural awareness"was for the first time definitely considered as one of the five curriculum aims including"language knowledge","language skills","learning strategies"and"emotion & attitudes". Therefore, the study of how to implement cultural instruction, to cultivate students'intercultural awareness and to foster students'intercultural communicative capability in EFL class in senior high school has become the critical task of reformation in senior high school.This paper adopts two education research methods which are literature review and investigation. It has expatiated language culture and cultural instruction roundly by collecting and analyzing the literature resource related to English cultural teaching, and discussed the aims and contents of cultural instruction in EFL class in senior high school, which are the theoretical foundations to the explanation of effective strategies to cultural instruction in EFL class in senior high school. The survey is questionnaire. Through the analysis of the results of questionnaire, it is found that the outcome of students'cultural awareness learning in EFL class in senior high school does not achieve the requirements of curriculum standard currently. Besides, most teachers'cultural instruction means is single and unattractive, and a small number of teachers ignore the cultural instruction. In response to this situation, four cultural instruction strategies which are apt to cultural teaching in EFL class in senior high school are illustrated and exemplified in the end part of this paper in order to provide some feasible suggestions for cultural teaching in EFL class in senior high school.
