In《The mathematics course in common senior high school standard(experiment)》(2003) promulgated by Ministry of Education,"Statistics"is adopted as a prerequisite part of the mathematics course, which is not only the representation of mathematics course's update but also the trend of the international mathematics course's reform. Based on senior high school students'learning of sampling approach,the research has the significance on the setting and practicing of the mathematics course and offers help on teachers'effictive teaching.The research pays attention on students'degree of apprehension on sampling approach and the main mistakes during studying sampling approach,uses questionare and interview as the research methods.Following《The mathematics course in common senior high school standard(experiment)》,the author designs the test on the basis of analysing teaching material and doing teaching investigation. The research subjects are 322 students include three grades of sinior high school. According to students'answers to the test, we mainly do two tasks: firstly, using the horizontal analysis to analyze students'answers; secondly,classifying students'mistakes,analyzing causes of mistakes and offering relevent teaching advice.The research has drawn the following conclusions:1. Most students can bring forward valuable statistic questions from life or other subjects, but there exists some defects on dealing with specific problems.2. During the process of solving statistic problems, most students master the simple sampling approach and use it to take samples from population;during the process of analysing the examples, most students comprehend the method of stratified selection and system sampling.3. Most students can collect data by doing research,searching information and designing questionare etc.But a small part of students design a faulty sampling approach during making the general process of questionare.4. From the cognitive perspective,students'main mistakes about sampling approach are knowledge-based mistakes and mental mistakes.Based on the conclusion of the research, the paper finally offers some specific relevent suggestions to curriculum developers and teachers.
