Content: Our country experienced a series of comprehensive reform in the field of the secondary education in 1920s and 1930s, i.e. the whole country carried out the system of the comprehensive school marked by specialized subject and optional subject with consideration to higher school and employment. However, due to various reasons, the reforms ended in failure in people's criticism and opposition finally. In the field of China's current secondary education, there exists a trend of integration. It is of great significance to draw on historical experience and lessons for the current comprehensive secondary education. The paper adopted the method of documents. It analyzed systematically the historical background, establishment, popularization and the ending process of the production of the system of the comprehensive middle school. It also described the difficulties of the reform and the reason for the failure to the reform in 1920s and 1930s. Combining with the reality, the author was inspired about the integration of the secondary education in our country from the following three aspects: 1, the basic requirements of building comprehensive senior school in current situation; 2, learn and draw lessons from advanced theory and foreign experience; 3, ensure the quality of the education after the integration.
