Early in the seventies of the twentieth century, American psychologist Flavell put forward the term of"meta-cognition". Met–cognition, which focuses on people's self-consciousness, and self-control of cognitive activities, includes meta-cognitive knowledge, meta-cognitive monitor. The function of cognitive strategy is to help students to reach the aim of cognition in their cognitive activities. But the main function of meta-cognition about cognitive activities or activity development .Meta-cognition is the key of study strategy and study strategy transfer.Based on the practical process of chemistry teaching in senior high school and combing the meta-cognitive theory, the issue discusses how to foster students'cognitive ability through assignments, to make students learn to plan for self-study, to control the courses of study by themselves, to review and assess the courses and results of study by themselves and how to take remedial measures so as to reach the purpose of learning to learn in chemical teaching at senior high school .The issue consists of six parts. In the preface part, the author sets forth a new round of curriculum reform, the adverse effects of exam-oriented education, and the meaning of meta-cognition meanwhile put forward the main contents of the issue as well as the practical value of studying this issue. The first chapter introduces the status of chimerical assignments in senior high school. The second chapter mainly elaborates the main contents of meta-cognition, which includes the structure and the meaning of cognition as well as the relationship of meta-cognition and the ability of learning chemistry. The third chapter is the part of practice. In the part, the author puts forward the assignments strategy which is about how to improve students'cognitive ability from the three aspects of student-oriented variables, mission variables and strategy variables. The forth chapter is about experimental study. In this part, the author concretely analyzes the results of the experiments by using the method of comparative experimental study and then put forward some considerations and recommendations.
