For the reason of exam-oriented education,students neglect the ideas of explicit knowledge, but tend to concern the simple acquisition of it.So meta-cognitive strategy was not improved.The ever-changing modern information technology is affecting and changing our learning styles, working methods, lifestyles and ways of thinking,also poses a serious challenge to education.E-learning,as an important way of studying,has proposed higher demand of independent learning ability,especially ability of meta-cognition,for example,the ability of self-plan, monitor and regulate.These abilities are favourable to individual lifelong learning and development.After the study of literature,we found that papers about improving meta-cognitive ability in network self-learning environment at home and abroad are few.So studies of this subject are valuable in the field of academic and reality.In this paper,by learning research experience of meta-cognition at home and abroad, under the guidance of cognitive learning theory, constructivist learning theory, humanism, self-study theory,the study program of building students'meta-cognitive ability in network self-learning environment was designed.Also this program was preliminary verified through action research methods, survey research methods etc.I wish by this paper as a starting point, carry out rigorous research with the vast number of information technology educational researchers and practitioners,explore strategy of improving metacognitive ability in network self-learning environment.This paper is divided into five chapters.In chaper 1, research background,contents, significance and related concepts are introduced, finally the thesis of this study design and research in the process of limiting certain conditions to do the corresponding notes.In chapter 2,theories on meta-cognition in network self-learning environment are detailed introduced, including cognitive psychology theory, constructivist learning theory, humanistic learning theory and self-learning theory.In chapter 3,analysis of college students'structure of meta-cognitive ability and design of questionnaires are elaborated.By analysis,the structure of questionnaires were determined, projects were formed and filtered.In the end, questionnaires were formed.Also, reliability and validity testing were made too.In chapter 4,the research process was elaborated in three areas: pre-preparation, the research process, data and case analysis. Means of improving meta-cognitive ability were futher studied.In chapter 5, summary of this paper was made. The main conclusions are as follows:1. improvement of meta-cognitive ability can promote study in network self-learning environment.2.The study program of improving meta-cognitive ability in network self-learning environment is practicable. The corresponding strategies are as follows:(1) Corresponding training for students (2) Application of"network self-study summarized card"(3) Timely and effective monitoring strategie (4) Objective evaluation system.
