Based on an analyst of the philosopher Israel Scheffle's classification, education language is composed mainly of three forms: the education terminology, education slogan and education metaphor. This shows that education metaphor is one of the main characterizations of education language. As an existence of endogenous, education metaphor has unique and rich implication of the humanistic spirit.German philosopher Cassirer said, language has two kinds of rights - "the right of logic " and "the right of metaphor". The right of metaphor is eternally endogenous and education metaphor going with daily life better reflects the humanization characteristics of educational activities. However, in today's society because of the prevalence of scientism and the spread of instrumental rationality, various research fields pursuing conceptualization and precision of language, and education language can not "escape" either. The metaphorical language has become a neglected area of education. Therefore, in this paper, the author attempts to explore and excavate the meaning of education metaphor, calling for the return in education.This thesis is divided into four sections: The first part is the introduction of this study, which from the theoretical research and practical needs, analyze the research status and problems of education to illustrate the research significance, research ideas and research methods. The second part is to define the concept. By interpreting the connotation of metaphor and education metaphor along with analyzing the Western classical cases of education to further clear the implication of education metaphor. In the third part, the core of this paper, the author combed the phenomena of education metaphor systematically and comprehensively. Among them, this part is divided into four small parts. First of all, through the analysis of school metaphor, revealed that in the modern society under the guidance of the instrumental rationality, the school education is dissimilated and distorted that warning the rational development of school education. Then, through the analysis of teachers metaphor in different periods, prospected the transition of teacher role and the alternation of education ideas. After that, through the analysis of curriculum metaphor, it concluded our country's evolution of curriculum theory and practice of curriculum change, providing references for the contemporary curriculum reform. Finally, through the analysis of teaching metaphor, surveyed the development and change of teaching and learning concepts in different periods, offering consideration to update and improve teaching. The fourth part of the thesis, extracted and summed the educational function and value of metaphor.Overall, this thesis aims to reveal the implication of education metaphor, call for the return of metaphorical language in education to enrich language in education, in the hope of supplying considerations to update the educational concept, improve teaching methods and upgrade the quality of education.
