| This thesis deals with the effects of attitudes on English teaching, the definition and significance of the attitudes. It reviews the studies on the research of positive attitudes towards English learning both at home and abroad including, the Affective filter hypothesis, Humanism, Social constructivism and Motivations, the relationship between attitudes and English teaching. Apart from the above, it also aims to explore the affective factors in English teaching, such as how to convey feelings to students, how to cultivate students' positive attitudes in an agreeable learning atmosphere, how to arouse and maintain their interests, increase their enthusiasm for English learning, and as a result to improve their study strategies and achieve better results and learning abilities respectively. By comparison with studies on attitudes at home and abroad, a questionnaire and survey, and by combination with author's personal experience, this thesis attempts to elaborate on the relationship between High School English teaching and positive attitudes. |
