Study On The Educational Function Of University Archives

With the reform of higher education goes into deeply, the University Archives has not only confined to the range of keeping and using of historical materials for the education ,but also constantly opened up new areas based on the traditional functions. This paper standing on the review of researched results about the functions of the University Archives, will do much more studies on some aspects, such as analyzing the characters and advantages of the university archives, researching its educational function and features, and illustrating implementation and extension of its educational function.In particular, this paper includes the following aspects:First, studying on the connotation of the educational function of the university Archives. University Archives has the advantage of the unique collection and cultural heritage, and advanced management. Archives of the university have more educational files including teaching files, researching files and school history files. The main carriers in these kinds include substantial and audio-visual archives files, which play their different educational functions in the development of the University. It is important to analyze the celebrity files of the University, it is not only a "history" meaning but more "education" function. The functions of higher education are to train high-level talent, to adopt a general education and professional education for the integration into the whole mode of education. Therefore, the university archives is playing a function of ethical quality, scientific education, and the arts aesthetic education. It is aimed at encouraging college students' comprehensive development of ethics, intellect, physique and aesthetics.Second, revealing the features of educational function of the University Archives. Education modernization does not only highlight the educational functions of the University archives, but also provides a broad development space for the educational function of the university archives. On the one hand the development and reform of archives are influenced and limited by various social factors, on the other hand the archives in their own unique form affects social development and even has a positive role in promoting it. Along with the arrival of a knowledge-based economy in the 21st century , higher education has begun to turn to its own modern building, the educational functions of the University Archives are also bound to be strengthened and extended. Specific content of the extension: educational methods are extending from indirect to direct, educational content is extending from extensive to intensive-type, educational object is extending from regional to extensional, education goal is extending from access knowledge to the ability of access knowledge.
