In 2001, the Ministry of Education promulgated the latest Senior English Curriculum Standards. According to the standards, the teaching of English reading is raised as one of the fundamental object and we must develop the reading ability of students .This makes the teaching of reading at high school become more prominent.At high school, the English reading texts cover a wide range of knowledge and the content is rich. They are the most important parts in every unit. By teaching and studying the texts, the students' ability of reading can be improved.Although some English teachers and learners realize the importance of the teaching of reading, there are many problems in the teaching of reading at present. The traditional mode of the teaching of reading is bottom-up model. This model only pays attention to grammar,word and phrases. The result of this teaching is students can understand the surface meaning of the articles but can not achieve the real reading object. Our English teachers face with the challenge that is exploring appropriate means of the teaching of reading to ensure the implementation of the new curriculum.In mid-1870s, Schema Theory gradually formed and began to be used in reading compression .This theory stressed that the knowledge structure that people have got is very important for current understanding activities. The more schema knowledge people have, the ability of reading is stronger.This paper analyses the obstacles that senior students will meet when they read English articles, such as cultural barriers and subject obstacles, as well as the current status of the teaching of reading at high school. Combining with Schema Theory and the theory of reading, the writer of this paper raised the strategy of reading English articles, which is: repeating+ retelling. The writer did experiment and got a conclusion, which is the strategy is effective on improving students' reading ability.According to the status of the reading teaching, the writer comes up with the strategy, hoping other teachers can make comments on it.
