In recent years,competency research is becoming a hotspot in the field of human resource management,and more and more people pay attention to it.In China,many scholars have kept on studying it,but the result of the literature search turns out that all those research only focus on the literature summary,the theory analysis as well as the construction of the universal competency model.Most of these research are about the enterprises.As for how to carry out competency research in the higher education is still blank.In view of the study vacancy,the author hopes to provide the theoretical support and the methodological dist for the higher education through the dissertation research.As the first part of the dissertation, the researcher summarized theories on competency and its models, discussed the origin,definition,reseach methodology and structrure of competency,and then gave a retrospect of the reseach findings and latest research trend both home and abroad.In the second part,the general idea as for how to apply competency research to the higher education teaching is put forward. In the third part,the researcher selected a portion of teachers an students from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, behavioral event interview,questionnaire and factor anlysis have been used to explore the required competency model.The research finding revealed that the competency model of the higher education teaching including:education ability,professional skill,self adjust, professional ethics, attitude,interpersonal association,psychology tutoring ability,achievement motive.The research explores the way to establish the professional assessment system on the higher education teaching. The research findings provide some data and information with technicality value.As conclusion,the researcher points out the key problems for further research which is not be fully investigated in the dissertation.
