Yingchun Middle School is a famous model junior high school in Wuzhong District of Suzhou, displaying unique characteristics in English teaching. But recently, the number of problem students in English learning is increasing. In order to address the issue, the author conducted a detailed survey through, among others, questionnaire. Here are the results. The number of boys poor in English is much larger than that of girls. Most of the problem students in English learning aren't very interested in English and they haven't found good ways to learn it, either. Some English teachers don't design their lessons according to their own personalities. A number of them have little communication with the problem students. Then the author designed an effective strategy toward the anticipated transformation. With the concerted efforts from all relevant parties, especially, cooperation from problem students, the strategy proved a success. The study proved that problem students can be transformed. Success or not, it depends on a clear guiding ideology, a systematic analysis on the formative factors and, most of all, a holistic strategy followed with effective measures.
