Since the quality-oriented education has been popularized in China, the physical education (P. E.) course in the general colleges and universities require more demands and reforms. It means that we must update the teaching theory, change the traditional teaching pattern and take full advantages of the existing natural resources. Orienteering in our country is a new sport compared with other traditional sports. Its unique characteristics and the form of projects are deeply loved by the people and recommended by the education organization.Based on the literature review, this study takes the college orienteering teachers and students in Beijing as sample to analyze the present situation and the factors influencing the spread of college orienteering in Beijing with the integrated use of questionnaires, interviews, analysis and mathematical statistics and other research methods. Furthermore, it discusses the effective measures to extensively spread in Being. The results are as follows:1. The degree of the orienteering's popularity in Beijing university is relatively low and unbalance. The orienteering development's forms in Beijing university have choosing the class, the elective course, the club, the sports team training and so on. The students have fewer times to go into nature and do not really enter into the nature as well as the outdoors, and the orienteering teaching do not reflect the teaching advantages.2. The orienteering teaching in Beijing university did not form a unified standard system, including teaching materials, goal-orientation, teaching contents, teaching evaluation and so on. The most difficult in the orienteering teaching are teaching place selection and teaching course control. Map design is still in the primary stage.3. Most of the orienteering teachers lead a teaching for a short time, the average age of teachers is low and unbalanced in gender. Most orienteering teachers have ever taught in track and field. The short-term training class and the network books studies independently are the main ways for teachers to gains the orienteering knowledge.4. More boy students than the girl participate in the orienteering in university. The students have a high cognition manner and a very big interest in orienteering. So, the orienteering is loved deeply by students in Beijing university.5. The most important factors influencing the college orienteering are leader's emphasis and funding; the other main factors are orienteering map, teaching materials, student's interest and teaching ground fields. At the same time, teaching security, teaching staff and publicity campaigns also affect the orienteering development in Beijing university.6. Every school enhances the leader to take the degree, expands the funds investment, strengthens the multiplication training of trainer and teaching theory system. Increases the propaganda dynamic, have more students have interests in orienteering, and holds orienteering competition regularly. Takes seriously to train map designers in Beijing university, establishes the university, the survey department and the outdoors club exchange, realizes the resource sharing. Using Beijing's superiority, we should walk in the development of orienteering in Beijing university.
