Apprenticeships in Australia had their origins in an apprenticeship system inherited from Britain, which has gradually formed its own characteristics in the development and reforms and become the cornerstone of Australian technology training field. Since the 1980s, the Australia industrial structure has changed greatly, the emphasis of national economy has changed gradually, but the corresponding skilled workers are exceedingly deficient. National Traineeships was introduced in 1985 but it had been ineffective in the first years. At the beginning of 1998, Australia incorporated apprenticeships and traineeships into "the new apprentice system" and officially implemented. The new apprentice system broadens the occupational coverage of apprenticeships, taking roots in all fields. It expands the trainee resource, not just aiming at young school leaver any longer, but vigorously enlarging feminine participation, and open to the Australian indigenous, the non-English speakers, the disabled and the remote area people. Age restrictions have been lifted, transforming from one focused almost exclusively on youth to one catering for people of all ages. People can choose full-time or part-time training. The new apprenticeships system is a great step to help young people, school leavers, and the unemployed to returns to the labor market, to provide skilled workers to satisfy the need of economic development, and to improve the employment market's flexibility. The new apprentice system has a key role to play in the future of Australia's skill formation. The system is an efficiency educational pattern, a good way to train laborer, and more valuable than full-time vocational schools and basic schools.Populous China is now facing the dual pressures of labor surplus and scarce of technical workers, the important reason for the problem lies in the fact that education, especially vocation education of China, does not adapt the development of society, which is also the root of poor quality of Chinese products and industry. The apprenticeship was also an important model of our country to train the skilled people from the ancient time. Now this model still exists in the vocational education especially in the rural area. But the existed apprenticeship in country still reserved the old forms and didn't adapt the training model. Chinese vocation field has been trying to unify the vocational in schools and the learning in enterprise, but the effects are not satisfied for certain reasons. So, it is necessary to learn from the developed countries in vocation education, such as Australia. At the same time, the present vocation in our country can not satisfy the labor market in not only quantity but also quality. Many fine traditional technologies and craft remain to be developed and inherited. It is necessary and feasible for our country to refer to Australian apprentice system. Certainly, the occurrence of any educational pattern is not accidental, thus the reference should be creative, not bland imitation.
