As the people's life informatizes and economy globalizes, English as a media of information is becoming ever more important. It's a compulsory course of compulsory education in the current educational system of China. There are many factors affect learning English in middle schools, among which family background can not afford to be neglected. This research, in order to discuss and analyze the relationship between family background and English learning in middle schools, investigates the student's English study and their family backgrounds, gains detailed and reliable data and other information.This article consists of four parts:The first part is the introduction. It introduces the background of this research and defines the research, then outlines the theoretical and practical values of this article.The second is the theoretical part of this article. It defines family background and English learning, and analyzes the relationship between family background and middle school English learning. Also, it presents the features and factors of learning English in middle schools.The third part is main body of this article. Through questionnaires and interviews of four classes in two different middle schools of distinct levels, based on the data, this part provides an analysis of the relationship between parents'level of education, economic condition and family culture and middle school English learning.The fourth part is the conclusion of this article. Based on the previous theory and practical research, this part concludes the influence of family background in middle school English learning, and offers suggestions.
