Content:Nowadays university teachers face with numerous disturbances. At the same time, their connotation of thought declines day after day. This article conducts from view of the intellectuals to research university teachers'thought connotation, which has not only the vital academic significance to the higher education fundamental research but also vital practical significance to the intellectual's spirit returning of university teachers.This article uses literature analysis way, the history----logicality way to conduct the research. After concluding and analyzing the results of predecessor research, the article gives the conception of public intellectual and shows that thought connotation of intellectual should be independence, freedom and criticism. Firstly, it analyzes the reasons of declining of university teachers'intellectual thought connotation, using multi-discipline and trans-discipline research way. Secondly, from historical view it works out the unharmonious state. Finally, it raises the ways which can make the intellectual thought connotation of Chinese university teachers return.This article includes preface, main part and conclusion.Preface includes raising the issue, research significance, the research trail, the points of creation, foreign research results and domestic research results.The main part includes three parts:Firstly, the article points out that university teachers are assumed public intellectuals. Being the public intellectuals, the university teachers should have independent, free and critical spirit.Secondly, it analyzes reality state of university teachers'intellectual thought connotation from political and economic view. After analyzing history, the article shows that when the political and economic power are strong, Chinese university teachers have heavy spirit burden. At the same time, it also points out the reason of dislocating and expounds that Chinese university teachers are in the unharmonious state, according to the special bringing up experience of Chinese university teachers. University teachers'thought connotation returning needs inner points and outer points. On the one hand, university teachers should improve their public intellectual spirit and have consciousness of real-self. On the other hand, our country should speed up democracy reform to manage universities and build life-long professor principle which should be fit to Chinese condition.The last part of the article highlights that the research of university teachers'intellectual thought connotation is important to improve university teachers'thought. At the same part, the conclusion also points out the lack of this article.
